Water-based pitches are the elite hockey playing surface and highest specification in professional hockey. Unlike sand-filled or sand-dressed systems, these surfaces feature a high-density, infill free carpet.

Prior to play, water is applied via an integrated irrigation or sprinkler system, the application of water reduces friction by up to 50% compared to sand-dressed or sand-filled surfaces. This results in lightning-fast ball speeds (perfect for international and Olympic play) consistent performance conditions, whilst providing critical shock absorption to protect players.
