WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS FC

FOLLOWING THE SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION OF WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS’ 3G PITCH AT THEIR COMPTON TRAINING GROUND IN 2009, MCARDLE SPORT TEC LTD WERE CHOSEN BY WOLVES ONCE MORE.

McArdle Sport Tec were selected to be a part of the construction of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC’s new £7 million Training Academy and Arena, the ‘Sir Jack Hayward Ground’.

We carefully selected TigerTurf UK’s Soccer Real turf for this bespoke 3G Pitch as it is backed by FIFA’s 2-star accreditation. The project also included the construction of three macadam tennis courts, which needed to be finished in time for the pitch opening ceremony.

The completion of the Wolves Academy & Arena marked the final piece of the club’s overall Compton Park development. The new world-class Academy will be utilised by St Edmund’s Catholic School, St Peter’s School, Wolverhampton Girl’s High School and Wolverhampton College, in addition to general community use and the hosting of Wolves Community Trust’s various Social Inclusion, Health, Education and Community Sports projects.

The official 3G Pitch opening in November 2014 was attended by MPs, Councillors, businesses, members of the local community and the public and private sector partners in the overall Compton Park development project, plus guests from football’s main governing bodies, and both current, and former, Academy / First Team staff and players.

The installation of the new 3G Pitch enhanced Wolves’ academy status to ‘Category One’ – the highest status that can be awarded by the Premier League’s academy accreditation system.
