WHEN THE OLD SAND-BASED HOCKEY PITCH AT WODSON PARK NEEDED UPGRADING TO A THIRD-GENERATION FOOTBALL SURFACE, MCARDLE SPORT TEC WERE APPOINTED.

McArdle Sport Tec and partners TigerTurf were selected to refurbish the existing pitch at Wodson Park Sports Centre, which was to be created for community use, as well as by Wodson Park Rangers FC, Ware Lions FC, Bengeo Tigers FC and Bury Rangers FC.

The project was made viable thanks to a £237,163 grant which was awarded to the Centre by the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund via the Football Foundation.

The new 3G Football pitch received lots of positive feedback Mark Prisk, MP for Hertford and Stortford said, “It was a privilege to officially open the new 3G Football pitch at Wodson Park. I know just how hard the Wodson Park Trust, alongside the Football Foundation and Hertfordshire FA, have worked to ensure that this project came to fruition. This refurbished facility will be of a tremendous benefit to local football clubs and community for many years to come.”

Measuring 101.9m x 62.70m, McArdle Sport Tec selected TigerTurf UK’s Total Turf 60XQ synthetic grass carpet to meet with FIFA Quality Pro (previously known as FIFA one star and FIFA two star) performance standards.

Football Freestylers were invited, along with Mark Prisk, MP for Hereford and Stortford to attend the opening ceremony and to cut the ribbon. The new state-of-the-art community 3G Football facility will serve to strengthen the connection between Hertfordshire’s professional clubs and the local community.

The Freestylers, Billy Wingrove and Jeremy Lynch put on a show for everyone at the opening launch
