UNIVERSITY OF EXETER
The University took on a mammoth project over the Summer holidays which included the resurfacing of their existing rugby pitch.
In 2014, we were approached by The University of Exeter to submit a price to resurface their existing sports pitch.
The University’s brief was that they required a 3G sports surface to replace their existing artificial pitch. The surface had to be suitable primarily for men and women’s rugby, but also for football, lacrosse and American football and ultimate frisbee. The pitch was to be used extensively with almost constant use, 7 days a week, during the university term, so it was vital that it included floodlighting and that it was fenced.
Due to the demands of the usage pattern and the sports to be played a shock pad was required to meet with IRB Regulation 22.
The University also required the surface system to be accredited to FIFA 2 star standards. Taking all of the requirements into consideration, which we selected Tiger Turf UK’s Total Turf 60 XQ for this job.
We completed the project in late 2014 and it was very well received by the University and was part of £9 million over haul of facilities.
“To be able to offer incredible facilities and superb services to our students, staff and external members, we know we must continue to improve and invest and strive for excellence. We hope that everyone is able to benefit from the sports facilities across all our sites.” – Neil Sheppard, Assistant Director of Sport.
