UCKFIELD COMMUNITY TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE

Uckfield Community College were awarded a grant from the Football Foundation and worked in partnership with Sussex County FA to get their Artificial Grass Pitch off the ground.

Uckfield college strived to improve its sporting facilities to further solidify its position as a focus of community sport. We were excited to have been selected to design and build a new 3G pitch at Uckfield Community Technology College. The college worked tirelessly alongside All Weather Pitch for Uckfield working group (AWP4U) and in partnership with the Sussex County FA to secure a grant of over £200,000 from the Football Foundation.

In addition to the Football Foundation grant, the college received a grant from Sports England’s Inspired Facilities fund and monies from other organisations such as Uckfield Town Council, Uckfield Community College, East Sussex County Council, Uckfield Lions and local sports groups including Uckfield Grasshoppers and the Uckfield Rugby Club.

The new all weather pitch is to be utilised by almost 2,000 pupils as well as local sports clubs. Additionally, the new synthetic sports surface was completed with brand new goalposts funded with £500 from the Football Foundation through their Youth Goalposts scheme.

The brief for this project was to build a brand new 3G all weather pitch which was to be utilised for rugby. In addition, local Football Clubs, the Uckfield Grasshoppers ’81 Junior Football Club and Uckfield Town FC required the use of the artificial sports pitch for their weekly training sessions and for competitive league fixtures.

The 3G AGP project was complete after the additions of twin-bar fencing, floodlighting, spectator area and an access ramp were installed and the new artificial pitch installation was officially opened by the town’s Mayor, Cllr Ian Smith who cut the ribbon and declared the new artificial grass pitch open.

This is an outstanding new All Weather Pitch

“This is an outstanding new All Weather Pitch. Developing new grassroots facilities, such as this, is essential to increasing the number of people who have a chance to stay fit and healthy through participating in sport.”
