Maldwyn Leisure Centre

MCARDLE SPORT TEC WERE SELECTED TO REFURBISH AN EXISTING ARTIFICIAL SPORTS PITCH AND CONSTRUCT A RANGE OF ATHLETICS FACILITIES IN NEWTOWN WALES.

At the end of 2015, we completed the installation of new sports facilities at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, Newtown.

The project included the refurbishment of an existing sand dressed hockey pitch as well as a range of athletics field facilities. The athletics facilities meet the standards set by UK Athletics and included:

Two long jump pit runways and landing pits
A javelin runway
A pole vault runway
A discus/shot put circle, with wheelchair anchorages

It is hoped that these new facilities, which will be used by athletics clubs such as Maldwyn Harriers, will improve the centre’s dreams of hosting national events.

Councillor Graham Brown, PCC cabinet member for leisure services, said: “The works were much needed and will provide a superb all-round sports facility for everyone to use and enjoy.”

As part of the athletics installation, we also constructed an synthetic sports pitch located inside the athletics track.
