Lymm RFC officially opened their new Rugby 365 3G Artificial Grass Pitch.
After extensive designing and planning, Lymm RFC are enjoying their new club facilities including a new club house, tennis courts and 3G pitch. TigerTurf were delighted to be awarded the 3G pitch installation through the Rugby Football Union Framework and partners McArdle Sport Tec completed the project in October 2019.
Using TigerTurf’s Rugby 360 synthetic grass, the new 8840² pitch is accredited to World Rugby Reg 22 standards. Developed with safety and performance standards in mind, the artificial pitch provides a durable, safe surface, suited to rigorous demands of rugby training and matches. The new facilities also benefit from new Duralock fencing and floodlighting to enable continuous play throughout the seasons.
“This a great step forward for Lymm Rugby Club and the broader community,” commented John Cartwright, Lymm RFC Chairman. “We are grateful to the RFU, Warrington Borough Council, and the main contractor McArdle Sport Tec for helping us achieve this significant ambition.”
“We hope the local community will embrace the new AGP and take advantage of the additional opportunities it provides people to play year-round rugby. We have seen local clubs, schools and teams from across the local areas all embracing the opportunity to play on the world-class facilities without weather, darkness or lack of pitch access limiting their ability to enjoy this great game”, said Steve Grainger, RFU Rugby Development Director.
So, what is the RFU Rugby 365 programme?
After the Rugby World Cup in 2015, the Rugby Football Union wanted to create accessible facilities and increase participation within the sport. Through the Rugby 365 programme, 28 artificial grass pitches have now been opened which have enabled more training sessions and matches to take place. 3G rugby are durable, safe, allowing all-year round play, which can withstand extensive usage.
