IVYBRIDGE RUGBY CLUB
McArdle Sport Tec are delighted to build another ‘RFU Rugby 365 programme’ World Rugby Regulation 22 3G pitch.
Treve Mitchell, president for the Devon RFU, officially opened Ivybridge RFC’s new Rugby 365 artificial grass pitch on the 1st September, the first of its kind in Devon and Cornwall. The new facilities enable the club to grow participating numbers throughout all the seasons and eliminate the need to cancel training sessions or matches due to the unreliability of the natural turf pitches.
The new 7452m² 3G pitch was built to World Rugby Regulation 22 standards using TigerTurf’s Rugby 360 artificial grass. TigerTurf won a competitive tender with partners McArdle Sport Tec, and the new pitch was completed in August 2018.
Ivybridge RFC President Alan Knight quoted the following:
“The new 3G rugby pitch has only been open a few weeks, but the facilities have been well received by the club and community. Before the new artificial pitch was built, our 5 natural grass pitches would cause major problems as soon as the weather worsened. We would fear any wet weather knowing that the grass pitches would soon be waterlogged, slippery and uneven, the pitches would be too unsafe to continue with training and matches, and the maintenance needed on the natural turf was incredibly time consuming. This new Rugby 365 pitch elevates the pressure and worry of whether training sessions or matches can continue throughout the winter, our new floodlights are far superior, and we plan to schedule many more matches and training classes. It is a wonderful relief knowing we have the 3G rugby pitch available, all our rugby players desperately want to use the pitch.
We are so appreciative of the work and the standard of the rugby pitch produced by McArdle Sport Tec, we are very pleased”.
