McArdle Sport Tec’s new synthetic hockey pitch installation enhances the sports facilities at Chesham Grammar School

Chesham Grammar School, an Ofsted Outstanding co-educational school in Buckinghamshire, ethos is to provide an exceptional education for their students, providing the best possible facilities and proactively supporting Mental Health and Well Being with a wide range of extracurricular opportunities.

Challenge:

Despite Chesham Grammar Schools strong values, the school faced a significant limitation, restricted year-round access to sports facilities.

With only a small hard surfaced area, students had minimal space for outdoor activities between October and April when the natural turf pitch was unavailable, there was very little space for students outside during social times. The outdated floodlights and deteriorating netball courts further hindered sports participation.

New Beginnings:

McArdle Sport Tec were thrilled to be appointed by Chesham Grammar School and the Red Kite School Trust to construct the new synthetic sand-dressed hockey pitch.

The project involved excavating and removing part of an existing macadam MUGA prior to commencing the groundworks to install the sand-dressed hockey pitch which was complete with fencing, floodlighting, hard-standing areas. Additionally, we refurbished the remaining MUGA with a macadam overlay with new painted lines.

Our contracts team took possession of the site in August and successfully handed over the facility just before the October half-term, delivering a high-quality synthetic hockey pitch installation on-time and within budget.
