Artificial Pitch Resurfacing
Inevitably, any synthetic sports pitch or athletics track, whether it is a football or rugby 3G pitch, or a water-based, sand-dressed, or sand-filled hockey pitch, will require resurfacing once it has reached the end of its life span.
When artificial carpet conditions deteriorate, it is essential to refurbish your sports pitch to uphold the pitch ‘Field Test Certification’ for the facility with your associated governing body. More importantly, artificial pitch resurfacing ensures player safety and continued playing performance.
McArdle Sport Tec can uplift your old artificial carpet (and shockpad if required) and install a new, high-quality surface with minimal downtime. We can replace a whole pitch very quickly!
A project specific team will be allocated to manage the refurbishment from start to finish.
Constant presence and communication mean that any developments are relayed to you as soon as possible, including any additional repairs or improvements that may be required. The project team will oversee the whole process, ensuring that you are satisfied with the results and that the refurbishment works are of the highest quality.
The worn synthetic carpet will be disposed of responsibly and sustainably. It is often reused or recycled through our partners, TigerTurf, or through longstanding associates who specialise in recycling old artificial carpets. You can rest assured that the surface will not go to landfill.
These are the tell-tale signs to look out for:
- Seams weakening & opening up
- Ineffective drainage
- Loose artificial grass fibres
- Flattened & worn areas
- Failing governing bodies' ‘Field Pitch Tests’
- Obvious carpet damage, wear & tear
- Carpet warranty expiration
- Carpet lifting and creasing
- Becoming slippery underfoot
If your sports pitch is maintained regularly by an outsourced company, inspected, or tested to maintain Field Pitch Certification, it will be possible to predict when the pitch performance is starting to decline. The appropriate testing bodies will inform you if the pitch needs resurfacing.
The quality of the original pitch foundations and shockpad (if it has one) is crucial to determining whether the refurbishment budget will only involve the cost of replacing the synthetic carpet, or whether additional expenses need to be factored into the refurbishment.
A substandard shock pad or inferior sub-base will considerably increase the cost of refurbishing the sports pitch, and depending on how old the facility is, the shock pad or engineered base may be deteriorating.
We also resurface athletics tracks. If you have an 8 or 6 lane oval facility, please contact us to discuss this further.
