Artificial Rugby Pitch Construction
Our 3G rugby pitches, similar to our artificial football pitches, employ third generation (3G) technology, using synthetic fibres which replicate natural grass.
Different to the old-style synthetic surfaces, 3G surfaces are filled with sand and rubber granules, not just sand. The rubber helps to keep the synthetic grass upright, and this greatly reduces abrasiveness and minimises friction burns.
Artificial rugby pitches are extremely durable and specifically designed to meet the rigours of competitive rugby training at the highest level. This means you can use the surface continuously throughout the year, with consistent performance in all weather conditions.
The artificial carpets generally have a pile length of 60mm and are installed over an in-situ shock pad to meet World Rugby Head Impact Criteria requirements and the Rugby Football Union accreditation.
Some of our accredited 3G rugby pitches include: Chippenham RFC, Dartford RFC, Eirias Park, Ivybridge RFC, Cheltenham RFC, North Bristol RFC, Cheshunt RFC, Bath Rugby Club, Hornets RFC, and many more.
McArdle Sport Tec is proud to have been selected to install temporary run off areas with shock pads at a number of Rugby World Cup venues in time for the start of the RWC 2015.
