Artificial Football Pitch Construction
Our artificial football surfaces, like our rugby pitches, employ third generation (3G) technology, using synthetic fibres made to replicate natural grass.
Unlike the old-style synthetic grass carpets, 3G surfaces are filled with sand and rubber granules. The rubber granules help to keep the synthetic grass upright, greatly reducing abrasiveness and minimising friction burns.
All 3G surfaces are specifically designed to offer similar playing characteristics to a natural grass surface, mimicking the ball bounce and roll. Our 3G football pitches are extremely durable, which means you can use the surface continuously throughout the year with consistent performance in most weather conditions.
As a responsible installer of synthetic sports pitches, we recommend a macadam (engineered) base for increased durability and to improve playing characteristics. Installing a rubber shock pad also increases player comfort and reduces maintenance costs.
To gain FIFA QUALITY certification (FIFA QUALITY or FIFA QUALITY PRO), all 3G synthetic pitches must attain a level of safety, performance, and quality. McArdle Sport Tec will work with you to determine the level of certification that you require.
